What Causes Spotting, Cramps And Light Period After Discontinuing Contraceptives?

Stopped birth control In september. Light period in september, october, and november. Very spotty. No period in December. Cramping and urine is becoming dark in color. Have taken several pregnancy tests, all have been negative. What could be going on with me?

OBGYN 's  Response
Hi,
It takes a couple of months for regaining normal hormone balance after cessation of oral pills and only then will spontaneous ovulation resume. This seems to have been delayed in your case and hence this spotting. If you have cramps and high colored urine, please get urinalysis to check for any urinary infections. With so many negative HPTs, a trans-vaginal sonogram is the ideal investigation to know the status of the pelvic organs. Please have adequate liquids. Hope this helps.
