General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Cerazette pill contains desogestrel, a female natural sex hormone called progesterone that is used in the prevention of unwanted pregnancies from unprotected sexual intercourses. Before start or stop taking this medication, you should consult your doctor first and without your doctor's permission you should not stop or start taking this medication. Because after stop taking oral hormonal contraceptive pills like Cerazette, some women may experience changes in their menstrual periods. Menstrual cycles may become more irregular or begin to follow a different schedule. Some women may suffer from painful or heavier periods. Usually 2-4 weeks after coming off Cerazette, a period may occur. First period after stop taking Cerazette is a withdrawal bleed. Next period after this, will be a natural one. But, if you notice any further abnormality in your menstrual cycles, then you should consult your doctor immediately for medical help.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
