General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Birth control pills can sometimes cause abnormal vaginal bleeding or 'spotting.'

When there isn't so much estrogen around, the endometrium can shed a little bit at a time causing spotting.

Spotting can happen if you have just started using birth control and it may take a few months for your body to settle in. Don't worry. It will settle down.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
