What Causes Spotting While Urinating During Pregnancy?

Hi Dr. Andrew,I had my IUI last November 18, 2014 and got a positive result on December 2. My concern was i started spotting from brown to dark brown since December 2 up to now. Yesterday and today, I was given Prednisolone 5mg because i had 3 miscarriages together with 2 vitamins, cyclogest and progesterone tablet as well. After drinking prednisolone yesterday, i had red spotting and today as well. All the spotting only occurs after i pee. Is this normal Dr. Andrew? I m so worried because of my past miscarriages. We really love to have this baby. Please help.Thanks.Durbz

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello Durbz and welcome.

The spotting is indeed indicative of a cause for concern, so the supportive medications being prescribed should help to support and help with progression of the pregnancy. Sadly, some women do not respond well enough to these, whereas majority of them do really respond to the medications.

If the bleeding continues for a dew more days, then sadly we will have to check on the viability of your pregnancy. But do not worry, your doctor will most certainly do all that is in your best interest.

Best wishes.
