What Causes Spotting With No Regular Menstrual Period?

Hello I am 23, 143 pounds, and just got off of the pill for about a few weeks. My period was due a week ago and I never came on. Now I am just experiencing a light brown discharge very minimal. I took a pregnancy test last week and it was negative. Could I still be pregnant?
