What Causes Spotting With Pain Mid Cycle?

So I jus went off my period and it stayed on the normal 6to7 days and I m wondering why am I having slight pain in my side and still spotting a little.i mean its only been going on for like two days but I m concerned.i haven t had sex but I didn t have sex 3days prior to my period coming on.what does it mean???
