What Causes Stabbing Pain In Lower Right Abdomen And Low Grade Fever?

My 20 year old daughter is experiencing stabbing like pain in the lower right abdomen and has a low grade fever. She threw up once. She has history of ovarian cysts but is there concern here for appendicitis? Should she go to the hospital to be checked?

Hello,

Stabbing pain in lower abdomen with low grade fever could be due to appendicitis. Ovarian cyst can cause pain and low grade fever in case of torsion. I suggest you to consult a surgeon for clinical assessment, ultrasound abdomen and diagnosis and thus management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
