What Causes Stabbing Pain In The Armpit?

About a week ago, I developed stabbing pain in my right side between armpit and waist. It gets worse when I sit or move suddenly. It even hurts to lay on that side at night. I am 61, female, and have RA. I have no idea what is causing the pain. It just kinda came on suddenly and has stayed. Didn t know if it was anything to worry about or just wait till it passes.

Hi There

After going through you query I understand your concern.

I would like to tell you that generalized body pains, fatigue, weakness, feeling of sickness are common symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis and to treat this you can take Advil or Naproxen like over the counter Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs .

If pains don't subside then it might require further evaluation. Kindly consult with your Rheumatologist.

Hope to have been helpful.

Kind Regards
Dr. Navneet Bansal
