What Causes Stabbing Pain In Toes Along With Reflex Movement?

Today I had sharp stabbing pain in my toes on my right foot and with each stab of pain my leg bolted uncontrollably in a reflex. i had to hold my leg to stop the reflex bolting movement. What is this? I have had the pain before but, haven t made the connection to the reflex movement ...it couldn t be missed today.

Hello,

It may be the start of a gout. You should test uric acid levels. Use anti-inflammatory drugs such acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
