Hi , Im 21 years old and for the last 5 - 6 years every now and again i would get this sharp stabbing pain on the left side of my chest just below the chest muscle . I almost feels like my heart stops it can last from 1-10 secs and its gone . I went to my doctors when it 1st started and he listen to my heart and said it sounded fine and it may just be a muscle spaz. But i still get them every now and again . Over the last 3 weeks i have noticed i have been getting the pain more often 2-3 times a day sometime its not a nice feeling there is no pains in my arms just in the left side of my chest can you help in away to what it may be and put my mind at rest ?
If pain is not due to any obvious musculoskeletal lesion in the chest or thoracic spine, it could be chest pain related to gastro-esophageal reflux disorder (?esophageal spasm intermittent )which is more common. Empirical treatment with Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) e.g oral Pantoprazole may be initiated as side effects are generally minimal.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
