What Causes Stabbing Pain Under The Ribcage?

My husband has a stange feeling like under his rib cage on his left side. At times there is a sharp needle like stab. It did not hurt today while at work, but I do see him feel that area. He is eating well, not sick, active, does not smoke, social drinking, but I can tell he is concerned. Is it his pancreas? Of course my mind goes to cancer. This feeling just came on recently. The needle like pain started two days ago. Thank you for your time.

No this is not cancer or pancreas pathology
This could be nonspecific unless proves something
Possible cause would be Hyperacidity.
Advise:
EKG need to be done to rule out cardiac element
Medication:
Tab Omeprazole 40 mg and Domperidone 30 mg at evening time once in day for three weeks
