General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Stammering in children is common and mostly related to stress and overload. It is important to see a doctor and he will also refer the child to a psychotherapist which first will very likely start indirect therapy (changing the way people around the child react and talk to the child- not being criticizing, allowing the child time to talk, talking slowly and calmly to the child, not mocking him, etc).

If this does not help direct therapy can be initiated where the therapist helps the child with the tips on how to talk and improve his speech.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
