What Causes Sticky And Semi Solid Bowels Along With Abdominal Pain?

Hi, my stools are not watery like diarrhea but they are never solid, more a tar like substance but still normal coloured. It is very hard to flush as it just sticks to the bowl. I get very sharp abdominal pains every now and then but nothing constant. It has been well over a year since I have done a solid stool and don t know whether I should see someone about it or if it is normal. Any information you could give me would be very appreciated. Thanks heaps

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, you are suffering from malabsorption syndrome.

This mean that the fats and some vitamins are not being absorped in your intestines and this leading to loss of vitamins and fats and making stool fats.

Usually it is due to celiac disease that is the allergery to gluten that is commonly present in wheat. I would recommend you to get your blood complete picture and stool rountine examination done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
