August 11 I got into a fight and got what is called a boxer's fracture. The doctor told me it wasn't anything too serious. He said it would take 6 to 8 weeks to heal but probably not even that long. Then he recommeded me to a bone doctor is what he called it. Then he put me in a splint-cast type thing that went on the outside of my right hand down to my wrist, then wrapped my pinky and ring finger both in it, along with my wrist. To begin with I really didn't have any money to be going to the ER to see a doctor but I knew I had to, therefore after I was supposed to go to a follow-up I didn't because the bill to the hospital was high enough as it is. I have no insurance either. It has been five weeks now since that happened and I decided to take the splint off since it accidentally came off during my sleep. I took it off only to find that my pinky felt really stiff, so I decided to jump into a hot shower hoping it would relax it but it didn't help. I try to put my hand in a fist and my pinky only goes up to a certain point before it feels like it locked up, and if I try to go further (which I'm scared of doing in fear it will re-break) there's a sensation of pain. Might I add that before the splint went on I knew I had to go to the doctor because my pinky would do this certain motion as if it would pop up, then pop back down. In other words it wouldn't go up or down smoothly. I've read on certain boards on the internet that stiffness of the finger after so long is normal and that certain hand exercises are needed in order to get the hand back to normal? Is this what I need?
