What Causes Stiffness In Fingers And Numbness In Feet While On Plavix?

I have stiff fingers and they may be somewhat swollen. They are worse when I first up in the morning as well as after I have done any manual labor...washing the car. Mowing the yard. I also have a sort of numbness in my feet and toes, particularly in the evening. I take plavix due to a stroke occurring 18 months ago. Age 65

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have stiffness in fingers and numbness in feet while on Plavix . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like achilles tendinitis , bursitis , lack of blood supply, side effects of medicine that you taking for high BP , diabetic neuropathy , gout , plantar fasciitis , rheumatoid arthritis or tendinitis . Side effects of certain medicine can also cause such symptoms . I would suggest you to put your foot in hot water tub with epsom salt in it for 15 minutes daily , do gentle massage with flax seed oil and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain . If condition doesn't get well then consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order certain test like CT scan , MRI along with physical examination . Doctor may prescribe muscle relaxant along with anti inflammatory along with recommend physical therapy . Physical therapy will help alot . Doctor may also refer you to podiatrist .
