What Causes Stiffness In Neck And Occipital Bone?

2 days ago my room mate had a bad headache , then a stiff neck/back of head, difficulty swallowing. She no longer has difficulty swallowing but still has stiff neck /occipital bone area. This morning I woke up with a stiff neck/occipital bone stiffness problem. It is really had to describe. It doesnt feel like my neck as much as in my skull in the back of head. should I be worried
