What Causes Stiffness In The Neck After Treatment Of Upper Respiratory Infection?
I ve had an upper respiratory infection the past 3 weeks, on antibiotics and steroids for it, but last night my windpipe has been incredibly sore. I feel a lot of clicking and crackling in my throat when breathing, and the only way to alleviate the pain is to give a huge yawn with my tongue out to stretch it out. This takes the pain away, but as soon as I swallow again, the pain and clicking returns. My neck is very stiff because of this too. Any ideas what this could be?
You have problem of neck stiffness that may be because of infection. Headache with nausea and neck stiffness indicate an infection of meninges. Do complete blood cell count and microscopic examination which will be helpful for further diagnosis. Lumber puncture and CSF examination can be done if needed. Consult a physician for further diagnosis. Detail history and physical examination give exact idea.
I hope my guidance is helpful to you. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Rachana Goswami
