Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 72 years old and presently taking medicine for high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes. My current concern is that each night my right leg is inflated - - seems ready to burst. Additionally from the knee to the toes the leg becomes extremely stiff. If I rub hard on the calf, parallel to the shin bone, electrical shocks zoom down the leg to my toes. ( I am also a candidate for knee replacement in the same leg) The next a.m. the severe swelling and stiffness usually have dissipated, and the leg has, for the most part, returned to normal.
As per the symptoms narrated, it is arthritis involving the knee that gives distal problem of stiffness in the leg. When muscles are at work for a particular time period, later when they get relaxed, spasm goes away and you feel normal.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
