What Causes Stinging Pain Under The Rib Cage?

Hello. For almost 4 days I have had a stabbing, stinging pain right below my ribcage on the left. It is constant. No relief with standing, sitting, lying down. The skin feels numb on top. It is not heartburn. No injury or accident. The pain was there when I woke up and hasn t gone away. It does not feel like kidney stone pain. Do you know what it may be? (41 yo female)

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I can suggest you some tests:

1. ECG
2. Chest X-Ray
3. Blood Routine Test
4. Blood test for rheumatoid factor, antinuclear factor (ANF), extractable nuclear antigen.

Apart from these above, a physical exam is also needed, if possible for you.

I have some questions to ask:

1. Do you feel pain with breathing in and out?
2. Are you feeling feverish?
3. Is there any cough?

With all the results and answer of the questions, please post another question. Please complete the test as soon as possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dipan Samanta, General & Family Physician
