What Causes Stinging Sensation In The Throat, Cough And Post Nasal Drip?

Greetings doctor, i have an issue with my throat,i constantly have sinus infections, and when i am okay, i get sharp stinging sensation in the upper throat, that causes a sudden need to cough, and makes my eyes teary.its followed by much post nasal drip.what could be the cause?

Post nasal drip is common and it is more usually due to allergies to some particular agent. Allergies can be due to foods, drinks, medications, pollen, animal dander, soaps/creams/ detergents etc

Post nasal drip of mucus is the most common reason for chronic cough. Coughing or the need to cough can cause the stinging that you mentioned and it is also associated with tears.

The use of an anti histamine decongestant combination may be helpful though these may take a few days to kick in.
There are other medications such as montelukast or ketotifen if these medications are not enough
