What Causes Stinging Sensation In The Vagina Post Protected Intercourse?

Hi. About 2 weeks ago I got diagnosed with chlamydia after visiting the gynecologist. I took 4 pills of an antiobiotic and waited 9 days to have sex. I used a condom when I had sex after and everything was fine. Then, this past weekend (approx. 19 days after treatment) I had sex and started getting a stinging sensation. I now still slightly have that sensation and am a little itchy down there. I m very concerned that maybe the chlamydia didn t go away, but I was advised not to get re-tested until 3 months to avoid a false positive. I m scared because I don t want to go 3 months with potentially having it again. Also, I was thinking it could maybe be a yeast infection from the antibiotic I used for treatment, as the symptoms for both are very similar. Please let me know what you think/what I should do.

Hi, Welcome to Ask a Doctor services. I have read your query. It looks like you are sensitive to latex or polyurethane & that is causing you stinging sensation post protected intercourse. Avoid the use of condoms or try any other brand but it is safer to go for other contraceptive prevention methods like pills, contraceptive foams, spermicides, implants, suppositories, diaphragm, injectable contraceptives, etc.

Avoid sexual contact until your symptoms improve, do not scratch, do not douche, take care of your hygiene, wear cotton clothes & panties & use water based vaginal moisturizer to avoid dryness & stay lubricated.Hope I have answered your query, take care.
