Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I fainted a few days ago and hit my head on a concrete step. I lost conciousness and my blood pressure dropped very quickly, my pulse was very slow too. I have had 11 staples in the wound which exposed my skull but no fracture. I have had pains in my stomach since, as well as severe concussion. Are the stomach pains anything to be concerned about? I was sick after the injury but not since.
Hi. Sorry to hear about your problem. Secretion of stomach acids is increased in the conditions of stress and this excess acid can cause pain or some times ulcers in the stomach. Seeing your history it suggests that after head trauma(stress factor) , due to neuronal mechanisms, your stomach acid secretion was increased that resulted in pain in sromach region. All you need to do is to get some antacid syrup or drugs that lower acid secretion in stomach (proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole or anti-histamines like ranitidine). See your primary physician for a prescription. Wishing you best of health. Regards.
