Hi,

Stomach bloating and constipation in children can have various causes, including:
* Dietary factors: A diet low in fiber, fruits, and vegetables, and high in processed foods can contribute to constipation and bloating.
* Dehydration: Not drinking enough water or fluids can lead to dehydration, which can cause constipation and bloating.
* Medications: Some medication like opioids, antacids, and iron supplements could lead to constipation.
* Medical conditions: Medical conditions such as celiac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) can cause bloating and constipation.
* Intestinal obstruction: A blockage in the intestine can cause constipation, bloating, and abdominal pain.
* Infection: Infection with certain parasites or bacteria can cause bloating, constipation, and foul-smelling stools.

Given your son's symptoms, it's important to follow up with a healthcare professional for further evaluation. They may recommend additional tests, such as a CT scan or ultrasound, to rule out any underlying conditions. In the meantime, you can encourage your son to drink plenty of fluids, eat a diet high in fiber, and engage in physical activity to promote regular bowel movements. Additionally, certain medications such as stool softeners or laxatives may be recommended to relieve constipation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
