What Causes Stomach Cramps After A Colonoscopy?

I had my first colonoscopy this morning. 64 YO male, good health. Mt gastroenterologist removed 3 polyps, 2 grape-sized and one golf ball sized. I have had cramping in my stomach all day. I ate some breakfast after the procedure but don t feel like eating anything else due to the cramping. It is hard to sleep. The cram[ing seems centered in the area of the small intestine. Is this trapped air? Is there anything to do for some relief?

Hi,

As the polyps were removed, there is a pain. You should take antispasmodic as tab. Drotaverine. Take liquid diet.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi, General & Family Physician
