What Causes Stomach Cramps And Green Colored Diarrhea?
i have had diarrhea since Sunday morning. I returned from Ireland on Monday. My stools are extremely loose and green in color (sometimes). I don t have stomach cramps or upset stomach. I ve been sort of following the BRAT diet. I ve been going to the bathroom every 2 - 3 hours. Any suggestions on getting this cleared up?
The brown color of stool is due to changes in the bile as it passes through the colon. If stools are frequent , then the bile does not have the time to undergo changes and would remain green.
It would be best to hold off all solid food till there is a 4 hour window with no symptoms. At the moment the intestines are not ready to absorb solid food so using any food, even BRAT, would potentially worsen the diarrhea.
Treatment (1)Fluids are the main intake at the moment. Sport drinks such as gatorade would be best because you would get back both fluids and electrolytes.
(2)In addition, probiotics would be helpful as well

I hope this helps
