What Causes Stomach Cramps Post Depo Withdrawal?

I ve been on depo for over 14 years. I have occasionally had a light period, but never any cramping. I recently switched doctors due to my insurance, my other doctor no longer carrying the shot in office. I am due for my depo again tomorrow, but all this month I have experienced very heavy cramping and some light spotting. The cramping has become so bad I have considered going to the ER. I have been on depo so long with no problems, could this be due to different dosing?

Long standing doses of depo causes drop in estrogen level which triggers stress hormones that cause crampy gut pain and changes in bowel habits. The bleeding relates to how long it takes for this big hormone injection to suppress women’s own estrogen levels. The other reason is that the endometrium becomes thin it is more likely to break down and bleed with severe abdominal cramps. These are some of common reasons to have abdominal cramps.Yeah your abdominal cramps may be due to long standing as well as change of dose also.
