What Causes Stomach Cramps, Severe Nausea And Headache After Taking Erythromycin?
Hi, I have been prescribed erythromycin for a middle ear infection as I am allergic to penicillin and since taking the first dose have been experiencing stomach cramps, severe nausea and headaches. Will these side effects increase with the second dose or is this as bad as they will get? Is it worth ringing my doctor for a change of antibiotic?
Side effects of Erythromycin is as follows- Abdominal pain and cramping, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomatitis, heartburn, anorexia, melaena, pruritus ani, reversible mild acute pancreatitis, hepatic dysfunction, prolongation of QT interval, ventricular arrhythmias, urticaria, skin eruptions, rash, bilateral hearing loss, tinnitus, vertigo, venous irritation, thrombophlebitis.so take medicine after food and drink sufficient water ,these are minor nothing to be worried at all.It will decrease in second drug if not then change to PANCEF 200mg two times a day upto 7 days.(Thanks)
