What Causes Stomach Cramps, Severe Nausea And Headache After Taking Erythromycin?

Hi, I have been prescribed erythromycin for a middle ear infection as I am allergic to penicillin and since taking the first dose have been experiencing stomach cramps, severe nausea and headaches. Will these side effects increase with the second dose or is this as bad as they will get? Is it worth ringing my doctor for a change of antibiotic?
