What Causes Stomach Cramps While On Tinidazole?

I ve been taking Tinidazole the last three days for amoeba infection, and finished the treatment this morning. During the night I had stomach cramps. It seemed to be relieved after a bowl movement. However, throughout today, i ve begun feeling the symptoms of what feel like a urinary tract infection throughout the day. I urinate frequently, though the urine is clear; I ve seen no blood. In years past, with a UT, urine has sometimes gone bloody fairly quickly. It is ok to take Ciproflaxicin for the possible UT back to back with the Tinidazole?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you better do an uroculture before taking antibiotics. Most probably the cramps are side effects of tinidazole. Meanwhile, you can use cranberry juice or tea for disinfection and ibuprofen for bladder pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
