What Causes Stomach Discomfort And Sleeplessness Despite Taking TUMS?

My husband, age 77, has been having stomach discomfort for about a week. He s been taking TUMS without any relief. He has not vomited and his bowels are normal. However, he cannot eat much and has very poor sleep habits due to the discomfort. Today he had a small bowl of cornflakes w/milk, no juice or coffee, had decaffeinated tea. I know about the BRAT diet, but that s not helping either. I am concerned about a stomach ulcer. He is facing a possible kidney transplant in the near future and has been worrying a lot about the surgery.

I really appreciate your concern, there are certain common conditions and that need to be differentiated or ruled our like, biliary disease, liver disease, renal pathologies, gut disease, stone conditions, all of these may needs some investigations clinical examination, of course it could be gastric ulcer too hope this information helps.
