What Causes Stomach Pain When Suffering From Abdominal Tuberculosis?
Hi my sister is recently being diagnosed with abdominal tuberculosis. she has also started taking AKT4 since past 3 weeks however, ascites and fluid in the pleural cavity is not reducing and her SGOT and SGPT levels are also quite high. She is having severe pain on the left side of the stomach. Please suggest on this. My email address is YYYY@YYYY .
Hi. With the proper AKT 4 the fluid may be regressing but is not evident so soon. By what criteria you/ one can say it is not regressing? Secondly How was the diagnosis made? If there is no response to the treatment other possibility of associated medical condition like anemia, hypoproteinemia and cancer has to be ruled out. Some cases do get a resistant problem , where a short course of steroids under the supervision of a Doctor can help. Rifampicin in AKT 4 may have to be changed with Injection Streptomycin. A liver protecting preparation s also needed. Request the Doctor to review the case or take a second opinion of another Doctor and to adjust the doses as per weight of the patient. To repeat rule-out MDR= Multi-Drug Resistant TB and / or cancer.
