Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Stomach Pain, fever And Headache In A 6 Year Old?
My six year old has been complaining of a stomach ache for a a few days. It sometimes is on the left side. She now has a fever over 102 and we had one reading at 104.4. It came down to below 102 after ibuprofen. She is peeing and pooping fine. She has not thrown up. She had a headache today as well. She has been suffering from seasonal allergies which turned into a possible infection with a fever for a couple of days. That was a few weeks ago. She has not been lethargic. Her pain is bothersome but not severe.
With normal stool and gas being passed, the temperature will have to be investigated. At this point in time, we will have to check for any gastrointestinal abnormalities which may not be presenting well enough.
As a temperature is present at 102, anxiety and stress can be ruled out. Nutritional deficiencies and a check on her sinuses with the help of an x-ray PNS may help, although I am unsure.
If nothing works out, a blood profile to confirm or rule out an infection, and accordingly initiation of antibiotics (prophylactic at this point due to the absence of a diagnosis) and may be even an upper GI endoscopy to check on the cause for the stomach pain.
In the meantime, put her on a blad fluid diet (e.g. soups, porridge, etc.) and schedule a doctors appointment at the earliest.
Best wishes.
