What Causes Stomach Upset Along With Diarrhoea And Nausea?

I have had symptons that include upset stomach, diarrhea, nausea, and have felt tired and just sick (fluish) for over a month now. Any ideas of what could be causing it? I was tested for cdip as I was taking care of someone with that, but the tests were negative.

Hi,

There are several potential causes for your symptoms of upset stomach, diarrhea, nausea, fatigue, and feeling flush, including:
* Gastrointestinal infection: A viral or bacterial infection of the gastrointestinal tract can cause these symptoms, especially if the symptoms started suddenly.
* Food poisoning: Eating contaminated or spoiled food can cause similar symptoms.
* Inflammatory bowel disease: Conditions such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis can cause chronic diarrhea, abdominal pain, and other symptoms.
* Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS): IBS is a common digestive disorder that can cause abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, and constipation.
* Allergies or intolerances: Food allergies or intolerances can cause digestive symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, and bloating.
* Medication side effects: Some medications can cause gastrointestinal side effects, such as nausea, diarrhea, and stomach upset.

Since you have been experiencing these symptoms for over a month, I highly recommend you schedule an appointment with a healthcare professional. They will likely ask about your medical history, and symptoms, and conduct a physical exam. They may also order blood tests, stool samples, or imaging tests to help identify the underlying cause of your symptoms.

In the meantime, you can try to manage your symptoms by staying hydrated, eating a bland diet, avoiding foods that may exacerbate your symptoms, and resting as much as possible. Over-the-counter medications such as anti-diarrheals or antacids may also provide some relief, but it's important to consult with a healthcare professional before taking any medication.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
