What Causes Stomach Upset And Fainting While On Penicillin?

my son was treated for a mouth laceration with 20 stitches 6 days ago and has been taking penicillin and over the counter medication. Today, he has had periods of an upset stomach and tonight he almost fainted. These are both abnormal for him. Should I be concerned?

Hi.

Well his symptoms can be a side effect of antibiotic Penicillin as it can cause stomach upset.

Fainting is not common but if he is having loose stools it can cause dehydration and fainting..

So my suggestion is to consult his doctor immediately and get him checked.

If the wound is not too deep then a week of antibiotics is sufficient and the doctor can even stop his medications..
Also feed him with plenty of fluids, electrolytes and plenty of water.

Give light diet. But getting him checked for his vitals is a must..

Hope I have answered your query.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.
