What Causes Stool Specks With Mucus Consistently?

i just inspected my 2yr old sons poo and there are small white specks throughout and trace of mucus. white specks are not moving to my eye and are not all uniform in shape. He s otherwise healthy and active and eats a regular diet. Poops have been small and compact or skinny at times and always a trace of mucus. What can this be?
