What Causes Stopping Of Heart Beat At 34 Weeks Of Pregnancy?

Hey. I just went to the hospital a week ago to check for extra fluid. They told me he looked fine and healthy and his kidney was on the border line of being concerned. It was at 7. They said not to worry until after birth. I've also mentioned that he wasn't really moving anymore and the docs were saying it was normal around 34wks. He was just probably not having a lot of room to move around. The following week I went to my ob for a regular checkup and they informed me that his heart stopped beating. Any explanations could really help my why this happened? Thank you

Hi,
I understand your concern.
Stoppage of heart beat must be confirmed by sonographical scan.
The common causes of stoppage of heart beat of fetus are-
- A knot ,kinking of cord / tightening of placenta around the neck.
-Infectious disease in fetus - rubella/syphilis, influenza.
- high blood pressure in mother,
- Uncontrolled diabetes in mother
- congenital malformations in baby.
Thanks.
