What Causes Strong Fishy Smell In Vagina?
Hi I have already made an appointment with my local health department, but it s not until next week and I was wanting a little piece of mind until my appointment. I recently had sex and my partner said it smelt a little fishy, its had this odor for about two weeks now. I was about to start my period and have just got off of it about 2 or 3 days ago and I was wondering if that had anything to do with the odor. I haven t had any abnormal discharge, burning, irritation or itchiness at all and I can only smell it during intercourse. Its not a strong smell but its enough for him to have concerns about it. It doesnt smell fishy to me but more musky

Hi,
Fishy odor of vaginal discharge could be due to trichomoniasis or Bacterial vaginosis. It mostly spread through sexual intercourse.
I would advice you to:
1. Maintain good hygiene and wash your vagina with soap warm water regularly.
2. Avoid feminine products
3. Use soft cotton undergarments
4. Have safe sex
5. Take Antibiotics (flagyl / antibiotic pills or creams) for a week or
6. Use candid V1 for 6 days vaginal tablet or Daktarin vaginal gel application.
6. Check you blood glucose levels
7. Oral contraceptives if any used, should be temporarily stopped.
