Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a serious underarms odor it happened when I once didn t take a shower after coming back from school. I was of 9 years old back then and the odor stayed from then on ever since. I used anti bacterial soaps, shampoo, showerfoam etc to remove it but whenever I use a new antibacterial soap, shower foam, shampoo the odor goes away but only for a few hours and then from the next day the hours start decreasing and up to a point it has now effect at all. Its as if the bacteria is adapting to the anti bacteria. Plz help me I would try anything to get rid of it permanently place help.
As per my clinical experience, the issue of foul smell from underarms do indicate possible issue with chronic fungal or bacterial infection of pilosebaceous glands of the axillary region. In my clinic, I do recommend thorough clinical examination and if required a swab test of the axillary perspiration to look into abnormal content of chloride or else.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
