What Causes Sudden Abdominal Bloating Long After Treating IBS?
I ate about 8 grilled butterfly shrimp and about 1/2 cup rice for lunch along with a garden side salad (containing lettuce, tomatoes shredded cheese, eggs and French dressing) and drank 2 8 oz glasses of sweet ice tea; afterwards my abdomen was so swollen it felt as if it would explode. I do not have any allergies to any of those foods that I am aware of and no history of IBS or crohns.......what could this mean?
Sudden bloating is related to intestine edema or sluggish bowel movements after the ingestion of shrimp most likely. Need intake of proton pump inhibitor as omeprazole with anti emetic as domperidone for couple of days, on empty stomach with sips of water. Till the recovery, consume easily digestible food stuffs and avoid spices, non veg, junk foods, dairy stuffs.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
