What Causes Sudden And Lasting Pain In Rib Cage?

sudden and lasting pain in and under rib cage unable to stand. Went to hospital and had all blood work xrays in chest and abdomin. Ruled out heart attack and suggested gall bladder issue and ordered further ultrasound. Was sent home. Pain subsided by the next day.
