What Causes Sudden Behavioral Changes While On Furosemide And Insulin?

My father has been admitted to hospital, with severe breathing problems. He is 90 Yrs and has been a severe diabetic for a number of years, taking insulin injections twice daily. Has been treated with furosemide, with poor kidney function and COPD diagnosed. However, whilst his breathing has improved he has developed aggressive tendencies and a complete personality change in the last 5/6 Days. believes the hospital is trying to poison him etc. wishes to discharge himself, but cannot walk and needs a huge amount of care. His rational and dialogue is completely out of character and not logical. Lost his wife/my mother 3 weeks ago and I wonder whether this strange behaviour has something to do with this? Could it be some kind of breakdown? The. Family are amazed and very upset by what we are seeing. Wonder what will happen goin forward and seeking any solutions and advice wherever possible. Any professional thoughts would be most welcome
