What Causes Sudden Crunching Sound While Swallowing With Tender, Painful Adam S Apple?

Last night, I got up out of my chair. My head was in a downward position and I swallowed. When I did, there was a crunch. Not a pop, but an actual crunch noise from my Adam s apple area. Ever since then, it hurts to swallow and tender to the touch. My voice keeps changing. One time my voice is normal and then all of a sudden I sound like Barry White. It changes on its own. The soreness is not in my throat, it s the Adam s apple area.

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of sudden crunching sound while swallowing with tender, painful Adam s apple which seems to be due to streptococcal infection of throat. You should need not to worry much. I would suggest you to start with anti-inflammatory medication such as acetaminophen to reduce pain and swallowing there and help in food ingestion. Take throat lozenges on daily basis. You should do warm saline gargles on daily basis 3-4 times a day. You should avoid intake of cold carbonated beverages along with sharp and spicy food substances. You should visit ENT specialist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper prescription. You should go for throat swab test as well.
