Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My adult daughter quickly started feeling weak, took shower got very dizzy, took her blood sugar and is 386, she took 1000mg of metformin, she has a fatty liver and the enzymes have been high also, do we need to go to er if this does not come down after taking her metforformin?
Your daughter would not need to go to the ER for a blood sugar of 386, so as long as it doesn't go up, she should be ok to do what she can at home to get her blood sugars under control until her next appointment with her doctor. She may be dizzy from dehydration (increased blood sugars can lead to sugar in the urine, which makes people urinate more than normal), so I would suggest making sure to drink plenty of fluids and that should help with the blood sugar as well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch,
General & Family Physician
