What Causes Sudden Drops In BP Followed By Fainting?

My husband has been experiencing sudden, dramatic drops in blood pressure (twice while sleeping and once while watching tv) that cause a feeling of passing out and results in sudden drop of body temperature (twice it dropped to 96.1 and once to 94.9) which leaves him freezing and visibly shaken. He has been to the emergency room and to his regular doctor, has has EKGs, blood work, chest xrays, etc, but results are always normal. It just happened again and we are scared and at a loss. Does anyone know what this coild possibly be?

Hello
Dramatic fall in the blood pressure and all tests routine as EKGs, blood work and chest X ray are normal .
Actually when patient fall on the floor , there develop excessive sweating and hence temperature also decreases , so in your husband case real problem is hypotension and that is a cause of concern .
Because it happens thrice .
There are so many possibilities ,these include :
1 Cerebral perfusion.
2 EXCESSIVELY HIGH NOCTURNAL BLOOD PRESSURE , some times I have noted in my so many cases that in the night they develop high blood pressure and after sleep it decreases dramatically because many patients have preceding diagnosis of hypertension , so please write down complete history.
3 Most common cause of this type of hypotension is medications, diabetes, and many more .
But I recommend you consult a CARDIOLOGIST and get his opinion.
Good luck.
