What Causes Sudden Dull Pain Under Lower Left Side Of Chest?

I ve developed pain just under the top of my rib cage near my lower breast bone on the left side. It came on fairly suddenly during the night. It is sometimes very sharp (occasionally when I take a deep breathe and sometimes when I don t notice any trigger). It is sometimes just a dull ache. I m still able to function relatively normally except when there are sharp sudden attacks like those that woke me from my sleep last night. Do you think I need to see a Dr in person?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have sudden dull pain under lower left side of chest . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like heart attack , angina , pericarditis , acid reflux , viral bronchitis , sore muscles and panic attack . But in your case it seems to me that that the symptoms are due to cardiac problem . I would suggest you to consult cardiologist without any delay . Doctor may order ECG , TMT , complete blood profile and troponin t test to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe isosorbid nitrate , aspirin , betablockers , sedatives and frusamide . Doctor may also refer you to gastroenterologist for acid reflux . For now saty calm , do not exert your body and eat light and non spicy .
