What Causes Sudden Electrifying Sensation In The Body And Fever?

Today at work I was unplugging a bed in order to transport a patient to the floor. While in the process of unplugging the bed I had an electric shock run through my body. I went to the er with hyperventilation and panick attacks and also to make sure that nothing came of the shock. I m home now and have been for hours but I feel very confused and I am running a fever. Is this normal?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms which you described points towards a Lhermitte symptom which is due to nerve compression due to abnormal posture during bed unplugging. Get an MRI of back done to look for spondylosis causing nerve compression. Fever should not be there and may indicate a viral infection. It should subside in a couple of days with Acetaminophen.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Loveleen Sharma, General & Family Physician
