What Causes Sudden Finger Numbness Intermittently?

I was just sitting here on the computer, and all of a sudden my left index finger just goes numb. This isnt the first time this has happened. Sometimes it goes away, and other times I have it for a few days. Sometimes its other fingers not just my index.
