What Causes Sudden Hymen Closure?

i went to my doc and she told me that my hymen was close. she used a thin metal rod to open it to make sure it was not a tumor . i had sex only 2 time in the last 6 years and the last time was over 3years ago . every one tells me that this could not happen is this true?
