Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Sudden Increase In Heart Rate Within 15 Minutes On Treadmill?
Was just at the gym.had heart rate jump from 94 to 186 within 15 min on treadmill.slowed it down under 100,then started again on different machine thinkung a glich.went up fast within 3 mins.had a stress and nuclear test done 6 weeks ago came up normal.
Hi, In my opinion, if your stress test and nuclear test are normal, then a peak heart rate of 186, may not be a cause of concern. Even in TMT test, we take 220- age in years as target heart rate. Therefore, if your age is 34, then your target heart rate should be 186. Normally >85% of target heart rate is taken as normal, if achieved without significant ECG changes.
Some patients even attain a rate up to 110% of normal heart rate, without any ECG changes. This achievement is perfectly normal & generally depicts a more healthy heart. It is also likely to be very much normal, as your recovery rate, also, appears to be in normal range.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
