What Causes Sudden Lightheadedness And Weakness While Treating High Blood Pressure?
I take medication for high blood pressure but several times in recent days I experienced sudden lightheadness and weakness. My normal BP is 150/80 but after the a lightheadness today I wa s able to take BP it was 104/48 the lowest I have ever experienced. . Family history includes heart and cancer. I am 80 and very active at gym 5 days a week. Low cholesterol less than 100 and triglycerides 38. I am a type 2 diabetic.
Thanks for writing to Health Care magic, I am Dr , Muhammad Ahmad , I have read your question closely, I understand your concern and will be helping you with your health related problem.
In this scenario in my opinion you Blood pressure medication is lowering your blood pressure to much extent that is why when it walls from your normal BP of 150 to 100 you feel dizzy, specially diastolic BP of 48 is really low, I would suggest you to visit your doctor or discuss with him in any other way about you problem, there is nothing to panic about just needs a bit of readjustment of medication , may be cutting down a diuretic or ACE inhibitor to half the usual dose nothing else.
I hope this answered your question, If you have more queries I am happy to answer you. Regards.
Dr.Muhammad Ahmad
