What Causes Sudden Loss Of Consciousness?

I have experienced at least two episodes where I have awaken and my bladder has released. I felt like I had passed out or had been unconscious. My whole bidy was like splayed out and I felt like I had been unconscious. Once I was laying down as though I haf sat down at the foot of the bed and fell backwards onto the bed. Before this happened, I had a weekend of having to go to the bathroom an unbelievable number of times to urinate. Another time, I was away at a conference and woke with a start in the morning. I had wet the bed and my PJs were soaked. When I woke up and I felt kind of disorientated and weak and extremely embarassed. Other than this, I never wet the bed. Am I passing out? I do not drink at all except Communion once a month what 1/4 oz of wine! (I am a conservative Christian). I don t overexert like work out excessively. I am 5 9 and 223 lbs. I am on a baby adpirin, amlodipine and triamterene).

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, you need to consult your doctor as soon as possible as the symptoms you mentioned are more likely due to fits or epilepsy.

Soaking your bed ane being unconscious is a warning. Get your brain imagining and EEG done as soon as possible. You might also need blood test like metabolic profile as there could be any reversible causes.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
